This type is the fastest on the internet, all traffic is treated the same.
The downside is that all protocols (Web browsing, email, Voice, Fax, Torrents, downloads) is given the same priority, so which ever comes in first will get dealt with first.
This is THE PREFERRED way to be used for home users and heavy downloaders.
An example- Unbeknownst to you,a family member is downloading a large file or updating their phone/device.
You go online and notice that the internet is slow to respond. You do a speedtest at www.speedtest.net and your result is way below what you are paying for.
What is actually happening is that the other download is not being slowed down (de-prioritized) to allow your traffic through.
If you have a 10Mbit line and the download is running at 7Mbit you will only have 3mbit left and the speedtest will show this as the current speed it is getting.
